CUA helps families deal with fire and flood aftermath
$20,000 from CUA to help families deal with fire and flood aftermath
THE DEVASTATION of the Victorian bush fires and Queensland floods has seen Australians rally behind those affected by the tragedies with CUA (Credit Union Australia) adding its support to help families rebuild their lives, donating $20,000 to the Victorian Fire Assistance and Queensland Flood Relief.
CUA Acting CEO Mr Rob Nicholls said times of crisis required the wider community and business sector to support those in need.
“All of us can consider ways we can personally support these relief appeals and as a community based organisation we feel it is our duty and responsibility to help people in need- many of which are our members- which is why CUA is donating $10,000 to the Victorian Fire Assistance and $10,000 to Queensland Flood Relief,” he said.
“Australia is a great country but the harsh reality is currently we have the devastating contrasts of fire and floods at the same time at different ends of our vast continent.
“Our support, thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones, property and businesses due to these horrible natural disasters. We hope our donation will provide some level of relief for the affected communities.”
Mr Nicholls also praised the tireless efforts of the emergency service teams dealing with the tragedies.
“We honour all the emergency crews and volunteers who have risked their lives to protect life and property. It is a selfless courageous act. ”
