CUA Wollongong branch is on the money following retail award win

CUA (Credit Union Australia) Wollongong Branch Manager Jye Cajar knows he’s on the money after his branch won the highly coveted Business Services category of the Crown St Mall Retail and Business Awards on Saturday night.

Mr Cajar said he was very proud of his Wollongong Branch team members and was ecstatic when his branch’s name was named a winner on the awards night.

“The Crown St Mall awards are one of Illawarra’s biggest business award nights so we were extremely proud to even be declared finalists in the Business Services category,” he said.

“The Wollongong branch faced steep competition from other category finalists including IMB, Westpac, Russell McLelland Brown Lawyers, Drake International and Retireinvest, so the CUA team and I were over the moon when we found out we had won.

“The judging process involved a written nomination listing factors of success, outstanding achievements and point of difference our branch had over our competitors.

“We also faced a ‘mystery shop’ visit which assessed our tangibility, courtesy, communication skills, competency and response. We scored 9.6 out of 10 across all award categories so we were quite happy with that.

“The final stage of judging involved my being interviewed by two individual judges who questioned me about the day-to-day running of the branch, our management style and the dynamics of our branch team.

“Some great feedback we were given was that we had gained the equal highest mystery shopper score for 2009, provided a fully rounded service business of financial advice, superb customer service, enthusiasm for the business and motivated employees who achieved great results.”

CUA Acting Rob Nicholls said CUA Wollongong branch was an outstanding branch which highlighted the excellent customer service and professionalism that existed in all CUA branches.

“We are extremely proud of CUA Wollongong branch team and their hard work, in particular branch manager Jye who was described by the awards judges as a brilliant young manager who is a true team leader that knows his business and his customers,” he said. “I could not have said it a better way.

“The Wollongong branch is definitely an example of the great work being done across all of our CUA branches.”
