16 Schools rewarded by CUA for taking part in Schools Fun Run
13 January 2010
16 schools across Australia will enjoy a great start to 2010 thanks to a reward by CUA for their participation in a schools fun run.
In 2009 over 1,200 Australian schools made the decision to conduct a fun run fundraiser over the traditional junk-food drive. These schools were automatically entered into a draw to receive extra acknowledgement in the form of a cash prize draw courtesy of CUA. Just before Christmas the prize draw was conducted and the winning schools are listed below.
CUA CEO Chris Whitehead, said CUA had made a commitment to focus on improving the emotional and physical health of families.
“We see our sponsorship of the School Fun Run program and these outstanding schools as an opportunity to not only support them financially but to encourage kids to get outdoors and have a bit of fun. We are stepping away from the easy options like chocolate drives and into a fundraiser that benefits everyone” he said.
In total CUA has given away $16,000 in cash this year to schools that are leading the way and setting the standard in school fundraising by selecting healthy options like the School Fun Run.
This year 12% of Australian schools took the chance on fitness fundraising by participating in the School Fun Run program. Our ongoing involvement will ensure that there remains a genuine alternative to junk-food fundraising in Australia.
Here are the 16 prize winning schools:
NSW / ACT$2,000 Wilcannia Central School, NSW |
SA / WA$2,000 Bethany Christian School, SA |
